7 Tips for a Healthier You

Drink 8oz of water first thing in the morning
This will help get your blood flowing and is a natural detoxifier.  Continue to drink at least 8 cups of water during the day.  Caffeine and sugar will dehydrate the body, so limit your daily intake of beverages containing these.

Make wise choices when grocery shopping
Read labels. Just because it’s fat free/sugar free, doesn’t mean it’s totally healthy.  When fat and sugar is taken out, another ingredient such as sodium is added.  Choose lean meats and fresh or frozen vegetables and fruits.  Stay away from processed foods!

Eat frequently throughout the day
Consuming four to six smaller meals every 2 to 3 hours will stabilize blood sugar levels and give your metabolism a boost. It will also hinder cravings and late night snacking.

Eat balanced meals
Carbohydrates, proteins and healthy fats should be consumed daily.
Depriving your body of any of these nutrients could result in sickness and fatigue.
Keep a daily food journal to see exactly what you are putting into your body.

Exercise regularly
2 to 3 days a week of strength training is most important.
2 to 5 days a week of endurance training will help keep your cardio respiratory system working properly.

Have a support system
Surround yourself with positive people who will encourage you on your journey.

Stay focused
Keep your eye on the prize……a healthier and happier you!
